When one accidentally tries to run this module as a user, he gets the error message that python-apt must be installed, no matter what. Because importing apt will trigger an exception as a regular user. Explicitly catching the ImportError will let the exception bubble. The exception clearly says Permission denied somewhere, and the user has a better idea, what he must fix.	11 years ago

More importantly (and why I wrote this request): on 2014-02-15 the mirror directory was taken offline, so mirrors may not work anymore even for pip versions that support them.	11 years ago

Drew	44578e030d	Fix proper defaulting/required of 'state' for gem module ... The docs for 'gem' say state is required, but the actual code says it's not required. If it's not included (and there's no default) then the if block falls through with no changes and no errors (it neither adds nor removes the gem). This change synchronizes the docs with the code. It also adds the sane default of state=present, which is consistent with all other modules with the 'state' field.	11 years ago
