This filter was made because I needed to create idempotent UUIDs when installing the agent for Go (http://go.cd), which uses UUIds to distinguish the agents from each other. It uses a newly created Ansible namespace to distinguish UUIDs created by Ansible from any other source. The new namespace is a random one created by uuidgen on OSX.	10 years ago

To run a background task without polling, you need to set the poll interval to zero. This avoids passing the plaintext raw password into the script as a command-line argument, which shells such as bash and zsh will typically log into a file like ~/bash_history. As a small bonus, this works a LOT more smoothly if the user's password has characters in it that either the shell or Python syntax might like to interpret as metacharacters, like '\' or '"'. getpass.getpass() is part of Python's standard library in all versions between 2.4 and 3.3 at least.	10 years ago

As a relatively-new user to Ansible, the Nested Loop example made me think it was looping through both lists together (`alice` would go with `clientdb`, `bob` with `employeedb`) and not actually nested. I realize now I was just being stupid, but I feel making the example lists different lengths would prevent such confusion in the future.	11 years ago

Previously we assumed the shell on the target systems were 'sh'- compliant when formatting environment variables preceding command strings. This patch corrects that by basing the target shell type on the DEFAULT_EXECUTABLE setting, which can be overridden on a per-host basis using the inventory variable 'ansible_shell_type'.
